Biography 

Matthew Settle, who was born on September 17, 1969 in Hickory, North Carolina, started his acting career at the age of eighteen. He moved to New York and was discovered by the legendary producer Jay Julien who gave Settle a three year scholarship with renowned acting mentor William Esper. He was later cast for his first role of Tommy Shaughnessy in Louis L'Amour's Shaughnessy which appeared on TV in 1996. His other film credits include I Still Know What You Did Last Summer in 1998 where he played Will Benson, 2000's Attraction where he played Matthew, 2004's The Mystery of Natalie Wood where he played Warren Beatty and 2006's The Celestine Prophecy where he played John. Settle's television credits include Band of Brothers where he played Captain Ronald Speirs, ER where he played Brian Westlake, The Practice, CSI: Miami, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Brothers & Sisters.

Trivia 

• He is the son of a North Carolina Baptist preacher. He got his start in show business by selling records in Dollywood. Jay Julien, a lawyer who also represents Robert De Niro, got him into a New York acting school.

• Lives with Band of Brothers cast-mate Eion Bailey.

• When asked by an interviewer what his two sisters taught him about women he answered, "That women are to be loved, not understood."
