Serena van der Woodsen: Played by Blake Lively Then there's S. She's the girl every guy wants and every girl wants to be. If she wasn't so nice, we'd have to pull her pretty blonde hair out. She's been everywhere and done everything: she has her own brand of perfume, she's starred in a movie, and one of S's body parts was even plastered all over the city. But being stunning isn't always easy. S somehow manages to get herself into all sorts of trouble, especially with her best friend, B-is it really S's fault that B's boyfriend loves her so much? Who says S didn't find him first.

Blair Waldorf: Played by Leighton Meester Poor B-the world is always ganging up on her. Her dad ran off to France with another man, and her mom married a loser. Despite her straight A's, she nearly didn't get into Yale, her dream school, and she was unceremoniously booted from her bedroom when her baby sister came along. But don't feel too sorry for B. She happens to own a private tropical island, she's often compared to her idol, Audrey Hepburn, and she's got Frederic Fekkai on speed dial. B may have been born into her fabulous UES existence, but she's also not afraid to play dirty to get what she wants. And she knows exactly what she wants-or rather; who: her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Nate Archibald.

Dan Humphrey: Played by Penn Badgley Anyone for coffee and a cigarette? With his greasy dark brown hair and a body that subsists on Folgers, D writes love poems better kept secret. That didn't stop him from getting published in The New Yorker, singing for The Raves, and even hooking up with S. But even though he's had brushes with fame, D is content to brood in his apartment and scribble poems in his moleskin notebook, or spend time with his sometimes-love V.

Nate Archibald: Played by Chace Crawford Oh N, why do we love you so? With his gold-streaked hair and glittering green eyes, N is the prince of all our dreams. He's the BMOC at Riverside Prep, and has his pick of Ivy League universities. He also has the two hottest best friends in town, B and S. Too bad he can't figure out who he wants more. Poor guy. Maybe if he smoked up a little bit less, it would all become clear.

Jenny Humphrey: Played by Taylor Momsen Sweet little J has a big heart-too bad it's hiding behind the only thing guys seem to see when they look at her: her DD chest. J just wants what every girl wants: to get invited to all the coolest parties and for everyone to know her name. Seeing how she often finds herself in the gossip pages, she ought to consider her mission accomplished. J lives with her writer brother, Dan, and her kooky dad, Rufus, in a rambling apartment on the Upper West Side...but not for long. J is heading off to boarding school...watch out!

Chuck Bass: Played by Ed Westwick Chuck Bass...our favorite stoner and sexaholic. He's tried twice to get into little Jenny's pants. Chuck is our favorite person to love and hate. He lives to get into trouble and never has any problems finding it. He wishes he could have someone like S or B, so he spends his time being Nate's shadow, and trying to impress his parents.

Lily van der Woodsen: Played by Kelly Rutherford A daughter who had to be shipped off to boarding school; a son who tried to commit suicide. Having an affair with one your daughter's friend's dad. What else could you ask for? Oh wait-still being in love with your ex-boyfriend, who just happens to be a 90's one-hit-wonder rock star, and the father of your daughter's boyfriend.

Rufus Humphrey: Played by Matthew Settle He's the father you always wanted. A used-to-be rock star trying to make it big again. If he isn't spending his time played with his band, he's spending it trying to win his wife back. Or is it his ex-girlfriend, Lily van der Woodsen? Mother of his son's girlfriend, and his old teenage lover. But how does it feel Rufus to go to a party with her and find her pining over the rich man she's been having an affair with?

Isabel Coates: Played by Nicole Fiscella Poor Isabel, you wish you were in the spotlight like your friends Serena and Blair. But at least you have your best friend Kati to hang out with. She goes to the parties and follows along with everyone else, but really wishes she could be the object of everyone's affection. Just don't let Blair boss you around too much, okay I?

Kati Farkas: Played by Nan Zhang Good thing you're not in this all alone Kati. Isabel's there for you. Maybe following along with the crowd long enough will get you in the limelight. Don't forget, Chuck's always there for you when you need him. And make sure you bring I along with you, two for him is always better than one. Plus, being in Blair's control can't be that bad. What's that I hear? I think B's drycleaning is ready. Maybe you should stop by Starbucks on the way back too.
